yes you should take the time to compose and double check in the viewfinder before pressing the shutter release. I'll even give you that the idea of i'll snap away and fix everything in software is a lazy very bad idea. I happen to feel that most photos can be tweaked in software to improve them, There is nothing wrong with your approach however. That is the wonderfull thingg about photography, there are such a wide arrange of techniques and looks. as long as you like your photos the way they come out, then that way is perfect. most of my photos are at most cropped and colors are boosted a bit. that's it. maybe converteesd into sepia or black and white.

I try for getting right in the viewfinder, but have no problem with tweaking exposures, cropping, dodging, and burning. All of these are done in the film darkroom. I guess one of the only "real natural" methods is using a polaroid. ; )

I try to gt as close as I can while shooting, but if I could do it on a B&W enlarger it's acceptable, straighening, perspective, even burn & dodge, I'm not big on combining multiple shots, odd colors, deletions. I will play with HDR but I do try to get it right in the camera, Bob.

All the afterwards fixing takes time that you could be shooting more photos. Take a minute to frame and check settings and move around a bit. Then snap it.
