Does anyone have experience with Shimoda backpacks? If so, what are your impressions? Are they worth the price?

I have no experience wthem but they seem quite overpriced IMHO.

The large ones seem to be copied from a US ARMY ALICE pack which can be had for far less and don’t scream ‘PLEASE STEAL ME’ to someone spying it.

Sorry no experience with Shimoda but if spending that kind of money you might look at Atlas Pack as well.

I have the 40 liter one and it's the most comfortable pack I've used, it's still not perfect for my use but which bag is? It's very well built, room for a 2 liter waterbladder, DSLR, 16-35. 24-70 an 70-200, filters, small jacket, snacks and tripod.

I do not have experience with Shimoda but I do own F-Stop backpack (competing brand) that I like very much.

I bought the ActionX 40L bag last year through Shimoda's Kickstarter campaign and I love the bag. It has a lot of practical features and is well made. I have not used it a lot yet, so can only assume how well it will hold up over time. I didn't think I would like the roll top, but I do. You can pack a ton of stuff in it or fold it down to almost nothing if you don't have extras to pack. I like the ActionX series a bit better than their Explore series. Check Shimoda's YouTube channel to see the various features. Several/many photographers that do YouTube received bags last year and I noticed that Brendan Vanson and Nick Page are still using them a year later. Nick also reviews both bags. I've also noticed that Thomas Heaton, Adam Gibbs and Gavin Hardcastle still use them from time to time. Mark Denny did a video comparing the Shimoda Explore to the Atlas and FStop bags. Not sure about the others, but you do also need to buy a core unit for the Shimoda bags unless you already own something similar.

Another vote for the F Stop backpacks.
