PSE compatibility with Canon Scanner

Has anyone had a compatibility problem using PSE with the scanner on a Canon Printer/Scanner? The PSE control the scanner, but the quality is unusable. I have to scan to a file by using the front panel or the computer and then upload to Photoshop.

If it works that way, use that way. Too many tools are not directly compatible, or only marginally so.

Doesn't the scanner have its own scanning software?

Use the software that came with the scanner, then import into Elements.

Generally speaking my work flow is as follows:
1. Scan and save -- getting the most information possible from the negative or original with no cropping and minimal adjustment. I use Vuescan and other folks here use Silverfast/etc. I have found the software provided with the scanner to be OK for basic work but probably not the highest quality work. While you can use PS or PSE to capture the scan I prefer not to use the editing software for the scan.
2. After the original material is digitized in the scan, I then bring the file into Photoshop for the cleanup, cropping, file size and final adjustments. This gives me an original scan to save for the future and a "final" (adjusted) picture for printing etc. I then print from the PS or PSE adjusted/cropped file. I can always go back to the original scan if needed in the future for different cropping or different adjustment, etc. Just one man's opinion -- there are probably other ways/methods to scan/correct.

I think I did have a problem with PSE2019 and my Canon Pixma printer/scanner when I first tried it. Since then I've been using the Hamrick Vuescan x64 program I've had for many years to direct the scanner, with good results, and imported the results into PSE. I imagine there are other ways to solve the issue I was having, but this worked, so I still use it.

Spent 2 hours on the phone with a PSE expert and we came to the conclusion that it is the lack of an application needed between Canon tr8500 series and Elements. The scanner puts out a non corrected picture to Photoshop. This same picture that you see in Photoshop is being corrected inside of the printer and, that is why it looks better when taken to file or print. Canon should make the same application available to the picture going to Photoshop. Basically, what you are seeing is the uncorrected scan.
