Film development service?

Is there a good, reasonably-priced 35mm FILM DEVELOPMENT service by mail these days? I have new cameras and am not getting decent photos anymore: I think the development quality is poor. Recently I had reprints made at Walgreen's, and the color quality is definitely poorer than the originals. HELP!

I asked a similar question on pophoto.com and was told to try Dwaynesphoto.com they process by mail and were the last lab in the world to process kodachrome. The problem with drug store labs is that they process so little film these days ( and really dont want to process any) that the chemicals in the one hour machines dont get changeged as often as they should. If there is a professional camera store in your area see if they process film. you probably will get better results. Be forewarned this is going to continue to get worse as there is decreasing demand for film, prices for film and development will rise and places to get film developed will shrink. The reality is film for 35mm is OUTDATED Technology and will be as dead as poloroid cameras are today within 50 years.

If you are looking for service by mail, I highly recommend Dale Labs in Hollywood, FL. I have had my printing done by them for several years with great satisfaction. They cater to many pros from across the nation and still do film processing in several formats including 35mm. They have mailers for convenience and very reasonable pricing. I think you'll find them to be very high quality.

Carol (and all),
When I did lots of film work i used Mystic Color Labs in Mystic, CT. They do quality work for lots of pros and serious amatuers and do custom adjustments as well. They used to have a free mailer program. In 2002, they were bought out by a Dutch conglomerate and closed for financial expediency putting 120 people out of work. About 2 years ago the former owner and employees decided to "do it all over again". I love supporting American companies and employee owned firms....plus they do great quality work.
