I don't know how accurate his assessment is, but it makes sense for a company - any company - to share parts among its various products. Car makers do the same thing. Remember a few years ago GM was in the news for using Chevy engines in Buicks. So what? It a GM engine.
Just because those three cameras share some parts, that doesn't mean they're the same. Body material, weatherproofing, durability, shooting speed, and shutter life vary among them.
Ken makes a living by getting people to read his column so they can contribute or click-and-buy.
