Dave, great perspective you captured that image. Good thing they did not turn it on. Stay well and safe and capture more images.

Thanks, Pixel Stan, and stay well!
Not quite the season for it to be turned on, but when it’s really needed, I probably wouldn’t shun the “coolthness”
... or is that its “colditudity”?

Thanks for participating and sharing images from your neck of the woods. I am really looking forward to upgrading my IPhone8+ to an 12 Pro max.

Wow! An iPhone12proMax?
I had, for several years, been using Samsung smartphones for increasing proportions of my photography as physical problems decreased my use of my more traditional ‘tography gear. And then my bride surprised me with a gift of an iPhone11ProMax about nine months ago.

And already it’s “yesterday’s camera”!

Beware: as soon as y’gets a 12ProMax or the latest Samsung of Huawei you’ll not be able to turn around without being regaled with the advances promised in the coming 13ProMax!

It has been ever thus: I got my first 35mm slr (a used pre-war Exakta) in ‘53 and shot Exaktas/Exas for my personal photography during the five 1/2 decades until I went digital! Of course, during my career as a pathologist I equipped my labs and research teams with Nikons, Pentices,Olys, and Canons to give the non-photographers in my team the ease the various “Auto” options provided ... but I was long inured to “Manual” (my only option with the Exakta family) and was comfortable with it for almost 6 decades until hearing the sweet Siren’s beckoning song of digital.

So, I suspect I’ll muddle along with my bride’s loving gift of an 11ProMax ( and the various used and left-behind Samsungs still in the “old camera drawer”) for the “duration” - what with being in my ninth decade of walking or otherwise traversing the Earth and all...

I keep recalling being told by one of the “great” photographers many years ago that a number of his best known images had been shot with quickly grabbed or borrowed cameras of less-than vaunted “quality”. He impressed on me in 1960 or ‘61 that the recognized “great photographic images” had all been made with cameras technically vastly inferior to the (then) newer Exakta model that proudly hung from my neck as we were chatting.

it has thus been interestingly and reasonably predictable to notice how many posts in this new section have devolved into plans for “new gear”.

.Ah, well, as said: it has been ever thus!

...and so it goes....

Stay safe and stay well,
Best t’ye all,

Dave

Nice image and nice leading lines into the image. I would also like to see it when spraying water. A late afternoon just before the sun completely drops below the horizon when the light is warm and you still get reflections off the small water droplets. Yep, I'd get soaked for that shot.

Electronics advance so fast that anything you buy today is already obsolete. But, you have to jump in sometime.

Thanks, Captivecookie; I do appreciate that comment!

I’m a big fan of images you post in the Gallery and hope to see some here - assuming they are of SP (smartphone) origin !

IMO many of us could find your SP imagery usefully exemplary and instructive!

Thanks, Dave, that was a delightful surprise. I've tried to upload a couple times today and had no luck. Will try again soon. Something in my phone got off the right settings..

Hey Dave, love the shot. What app do you like for your raw capture?
