I have a lot to re-learn with this camera. Many of the controls are similar but it has a different EVF so I'm re-learning the feel of the camera's live view.

I got an A65 the first of summer, great camera. With the full frame sensor you have lots of room for cropping. I think with the second shot you can take advantage of that. Great action, have fun.

A65 has an APS C, not a full frame. But with the resolution, you are correct. I can do lots of cropping and enlargement with little to no loss of picture quality.

What lens do you guys use with yours most commonly? I have my Tamron 18-200 on it and I like the lens, but I feel like my images are still a bit on the soft side. Unless I'm using a tripod which I can magnify and fine tune the focus but shooting action shots makes that a bit difficult.

Now you're going to get it! Lol. The burn out is so cool! But I do see distortion in the pic of the Boss. Easily corrected in either lightroom or photoshop. It is the lens, not the camera.

I know that you slammed these up here because I bugged you about it. So I'm not worried about the cropping or the distortion. You know how to fix this. But I think you will be amazed at how much you can enlarge and crop without any loss.

You are going to love this camera as soon as you get used to it!

Tom

I am curious. You have an a65 and you want to get an a77? It seems a little odd, like something I would do. I could see you wanting it for the weather protection , but that is about it. Why not wait for the a99?

That's easy: £1724.... A99 body only £2499. A77 body only £775. Another reason is the wife has taken a likeing to the A65 so,, I will let her have mine on the understanding that I upgrade to the A77. Then in about 6 months time , knowing her as I do ??? she will want the A77 then it might be a good time to suggest she has my A77 and I get the A99!! Everything comes to those that wait, possibly??
Then there will be a good little A65 on Ebay!!

Soon as you mentioned the wife, that was good enough for me! And I can see that you too, are not made out of money. I see that Sony did a rare price drop on the a65 but if you have that extra cash, I would go for the a77. I came real close to getting one myself but I opted for the a580 and a Carl Zeiss lens instead. I'm happy. I don't need full frame and I don't do movies so I guess I do not need the a99. lol.

I looked at the A77 myself. It wasn't that much more but it was enough that I just didn't have it. And for the major difference being the 12 fps and the magnesium body, it wasn't enough to justify the extra cost. The price cut on the A65 sealed the deal for me. :) And the A99 is sweet, but quite a bit too pricey for me.
