My notebook computer died. In researching for a replacement, I checked the Adobe recommendations for hardware requirements to run Photoshop. I found the attached Important Notice published October 2020.

Yeah, I went to apply the update a couple of days ago, and found that I'm finally going to have to bite the bullet and install Windows 10. I've got a new hard drive coming today and will move my Windows 7 over to it, then install a dual boot with Windows 10. I've got some old compilers and stuff that won't run under Windows 10, so need to keep Windows 7 available.

That is good to know. I bet it is the reason some people are having problems and others have smooth sailing.

Important information that somehow has been lying out of view.

That fact shuts my computer out of the upgrade and is why I went back to CS6.

I found that I can't update. I'm in the process of purchasing a new iMac. I'll use my current one as a second monitor.

Its kind of like "look what we did for you with this update; errr...by the way, you may need to purchase a new computer to take advantage of all of the features we're giving you".

The current requirements for Photoshop 2021 are list in the updates. The 2020 requirements are not the same as 2021. I am using Photoshop 2020 and I tried to download the 2021 Photoshop, it would not load. I am upgrading my computer to meet 2021 requirements. If you would like to Sky Replacement, most computers being used will not meet the requirements without some type of upgrade or the purchase of a new computer.

Don't move, do a clean Win 10 install. You'll be happier.

8 to 16 Gb Gb of RAM??? Are they kidding? You work on a D850 RAW file, let's say an 8 image stitched panorama, and your file will be > 1 Gb in size. Do some color correction and your system RAM, which is only 50% available to begin with, will max and your system will start using its designated swap drive. And things slow to a C R A W L.

On a laptop, max out your memory to 32 Gb.

Here is what Google found .............

SSE4 (Streaming SIMD Extensions 4) is a SIMD CPU instruction set used in the Intel Core microarchitecture and AMD K10 (K8L). ... All existing software continues to run correctly without modification on microprocessors that incorporate SSE4, as well as in the presence of existing and new applications that incorporate SSE4.

I don't understand why this is an "important notice". This is standard information for many upgrades or new software. System requirements should always be examined before upgrades or new software. My two Sons and myself recently had to build new computers so that we could use Microsoft's new Flight Simulator.

I have a Delphi 5 compiler that I still use from the '90s. Ran it on Win3. Win10 complained but I got it running. The only thing that doesn't work is the help files. Microsoft changed its help system about 10 years ago. But you can still get help info online.
