Hi, FStop,
Beautiful monochrome rendering. Was the conversion from color by desat or does yr iPhone8 have a direct -to-b&w option?
If converted from color what was your first step? A one/step > b&w or desaturation?
Thanks,
Dave

Thank You for the kind comment.

It's been awhile since I edited this image so I'm not exactly sure but I can give a couple of different workflows I usually try. 1. If I am editing on my IPhone my go to app is Snapseed. After doing the usual tweaks inside the app I go to "Tools" and swipe through the different options. For Black & White, the Fine Art Black & White conversion is my favorite.

2. If I am using my Desktop Adobe Photoshop CC application, I usually use the Nik Plugin Silver Efex Pro2. Nik is one of my favorite plugin programs and is a part of my editing workflow while inside of Photoshop. I almost never do a desaturation to Black&White from a color image. I just don't think it works well for my tastes.

Beautiful Black & White image. Thanks for sharing and the edit info. I've used Snapseed almost since it was first released (yep, the paid version) and it's my "go to" app for on phone editing.

I also have various workflows, including Apple Photos (vastly improved) which now allows other post processing programs to opened up for additional editing capabilities that allows me the ability to get the "look" I'm most interested in.

I was going to post a fall image of a ginkgo tree and Boston Ivy on a beautiful NW fall afternoon but I haven't figured the image posting part.
