Hi all...I am new to this forum but already appreciate all of the interesting info I have read thus far. I recently bought my first digital SLR, the Nikon 7000, without the stock lens. I am using older Promaster lenses from my Nikon film camera. How much does the quality of the lens effect the image? Do I need the new lens(es)?

Welcome to the site. You only need new gear when your talent or your understanding of the medium starts to be limited by the gear you have. I'd say go with what you know and what you have and truly master it.
