I got turned on to iPhone photography after over a year of frustration d.t. Progressive inability to manage my stable of heavy cameras and lenses due to progressive sensory-motor peripheral neuropathy and Parkinsonian arm and hand tremors. Surprisingly, I find using the iPhone cameras to be a breeze and am amazed at the detail quality provided by the 12bit-depth raw file tonal spectrum - 1096 compared with the 256 tonal spectrum of jpeg files. And more discernible detail permits considerably greater enlargements! What’s not to like?
Most - at least 50 - of the images I’ve posted in UHH since last January have been from my iPhone 11ProMax- and most have been raw captures.
Here are a few.

Hi, Marianne. As long as you’re going for the iPhone12, for a modest increase in price, why not spring for the 12 Pro Max. It promises to be an amazing camera.

I would like to get the 12 pro max. I’m wanting the larger sensor, better stabilization and would like to explore raw photo editing.
My hesitation is the larger size. I am comfortable with my iPhones current size and am relatively petite with small hands. I’m also a back pocket carrier.
My husband has an iPhone 6 max and it feels large. I’m going to carry his around for a while and see how it feels 😂

Will you be waiting because of a price drop, so that the bugs can get worked out or for the iPhone 13 😁 which is supposed to be even better?
If wishes could work, I’d want the iPhone 12 pro size with the specs of the max.

I just checked the specs of both phones, and the 12 pro max is just .01” larger in all three dimensions. You likely could not tell the difference between the two. The 12 Pro Max is nominally heavier, but again, you’d probably not notice it. So that 6 Max will give you a good idea of what the 12 Pro Max will be like.

Thanks again for starting/moderating this section. I’m not sure if I subscribed.
I added this section to follow but is there something else that I need to do to subscribe?

I like to wait on new releases to see if there are problems etc. For years I used to upgrade to new Photoshop releases and worked through all the bugs. I have earned my Beta Tester wings so I will just wait awhile before purchasing. LOL

Thank you for starting this section Fstop12.
I’m looking forward to learning a lot and having fun.
I’m currently using an old iPhone 6s and in the process of deciding between a 12 pro vs 12 pro max.
Any input regarding the decision?

Hi Marianne.... I would go for the larger 12 Pro Max. Reading the specifications of the 12 Max after my wife FINALLY got me into an iPhone 11 Pro was what prompted me to post the original info... Whatever decision you make it will be good; these are incredible devices which I confess I have overlooked.

Thanks MrBob
I’m leaning toward the 12 pro max. Will be great either way especially considering I’m upgrading from a 6s.

Go with the Max if it fits your hand. I have the 11 Pro Max (upgrade from the 7+) and love it.
