Anybody else remember these guys?
In the ongoing struggle to pare down 45 years of accumulated stuff in the house my wife came up with a whole carton of things to dispose of. I have no idea what came in the box originally, or when - I bought my first stuff from them in about 1970. But this sure brought back some memories.
That seems to ding some bells. I think I purchased some filters from him; way back when.

Oh yeah, bought a tripod and flash from them and some darkroom gear. I used to love looking at their ads in Popular Photography and Modern Photography (I think that was the other biggie mag?)
Thanks Long, bought a lot from them but never knew anything about the company.
Thanks for the post. I still have some Spiratone filters in the cellar. Vibracolor Purple was one of my favorite. Didn't know the history of the name, but now I do. A shame about all the historical items lost in Qatar...
I sure remember them. I'm still using one of their manual focus, 35mm lenses on my D7000 camera. It seems to do a really good job. Take care & ...
Never bought anything Spiratone but saw their ads in photo magazines all the time.
Still have stuff from them. Think of them every time i put on the track for shooting macro. I think it was $10.00 or $25.00.
Noe $125.00

Yep! I was in their store. Still have a tripod from Spratone. They had ad space in all the photo mags of those times
Yes indeed! Spiratone was big 'back in the day'... like in the '50's. Among other items, I used to buy bulk 35mm film from them. They also sold B&W 8mm movie film that came in the 16mm width and you bought a 'splitter' from them to cut the 16mm down into 8mm widths. Good memories!
God Bless,
Papa Joe
