Right! The idea is to hit your opponent, not lay your arm on his shoulder.

When I saw the title, I thought of several possibilities, including how to "box" a camera for shipment.

Quixdraw is right, lots of potential problems looming for the gal in black.

This might have just been a demonstration, hard to tell. A boxer retracts their punch. This photo tells a story. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comment. I think that the instructor had just slipped under her punch.

Maybe the instructor had just slipped inside her jab. I hope so.

Key points - practicing or sparring you never have anything but a tight fist and a flat wrist. Neglecting either is a path to injury.

The whole idea of using fists now seems odd. Six years of Tai Chi technique has me thinking of open hands.

45 years of Judo, Jiu Jitsu (Japanese), various styles of Karate and a dash of Aikido, missed Tai Chi. Sometimes a fist is useful. Personal favorite, one of my best instructors suggested " What is the biggest thing you can hit someone with? The planet!"
