The Modoc ferry once ran between Ste.Genevieve, Mo. and Modoc Il. Here are a few images of what was left at the landing on the Missouri side.
The ferry was closed at the of our visit and nowhere to be seen, it was back in operation in 2020 maybe before that. https://drloihjournal.blogspot.com/2016/11/modoc-illinois-mississippi-river-ferry.html

I really like the third image. It's sort of a still life and an ecological statement, all in one. Great color and detail. A minor change I'd suggest is to clone out the one spot of sunlight on the gravel, near the lower left corner. (I might have waited to take the photo or somehow blocked that spot of sun... But I think it would be pretty easily cloned out too.)

Further down, the B&W image is also very interesting (I like it much better than the color version).

I was on the other side of the river yesterday along the bluff road but didn't drive down to the ferry landing. Operation could be suspended right now due to low water in the river. We've lost a number of the river ferries in recent years -- it's unfortunate.

Very interesting shots Frank. #3 has a great combination of textures and colors and can lead on the imagination. I very much like the color rendition in #5 and the details in the wood and the water, sorry, cannot do much with the b&w version, but then I very rarely enjoy b&w anyway, unless they really blow me away. I do love your last frame with the wood - great shot. Thanks for showing these intriguing images. Have a great day - Joe

I think there are only two operating Ferries on the Mississippi River within 100 miles of St.Louis, Mo
1: The Golden Eagle
2: The Ste.Gen. Modoc
3: The Brussels Ferry is a toll free ferry operated By The IDOT, crossing the Illinois River just south of Pere Marquett State park on Il. Rt.3
