Just looked...16* on our patio at 7:30 am, won't even get to freezing today!
Believe this is one of the many ranches the National Park Service bought over time as the Grand Teton National Park was created. Probably started out as a working ranch/seasonal dude ranch or guest ranch providing lodging. The Park Service may have even used it for a period of time. Anyhow, the buildings are in fair shape and unused and don't know what plans may be in store for it. The only other people I see occasion here are a few tour vans on their way to buffalo flats.
Believe there are some ~75 cabins/ranch building still located within GTNP that will eventually be bought as families move on.

Nice shots of these buildings. Seems a shame that the Park services are not getting funding to restore some of these buildings.
Damn shame and sad to see, Jim, very good series though.

I just can't believe that the federal government does not have the funds to maintain these buildings. Or lease them to some organisation for some kind of usage. With all the money that the Fed just pisses away the funds must be avaiable

Thank you, Ourspolair...the National Park Service has seen massive budget cutbacks in recent years and operates on a shoestring these days...seasonal help, docents and volunteers make up a large part of their help!!

Agree Earnest...no money in the budget for many projects. Seems like nothing but more cutbacks each year.

You would think so, especially with attendance at all time highs and straining the park services and their limited budgets. Our federal government priorities are all askew these days...like you say, pissing the taxpayer money away!!
Very interesting set - I wonder what the nests are under the roof in #7. Joe
An excellent set, jederick.
