I'm finding the shutter release button on my Nikon D750 a bit sluggish and "r22" is displayed on the control panel each time I press the shutter release button. What's up? I've checked the manual and the internet and can't get an answer that resolves the problem.

That r22 is NOT an error code. it simply signifies how many shots you have before the buffer fills up.

I found this
Stuck on R-number
This isn’t an error message, but a lot of photographers come across the camera being stuck on an r-number with it refusing to take a photo when the shutter is fully pressed. This could be anything, such as r36 or any other number. What it actually shows is the remaining number of photos that can be taken on the buffer and appears when you half-press the shutter.

So why won’t your camera take a photo when it is fully pressed, but instead still shows the r-number message? Well there are a few reasons for this. By default your camera will prioritise the focus of an image before taking a photo (this can be overridden in the settings), so if you are shooting in a very dark environment and your camera can’t obtain proper focus then you’ll see this r-number until it locks on to something.

Other reasons include having the camera set to the self-timer or a remote of sorts; the r-number will show until the timer is complete or the remote is triggered

Thank you all for the information. The camera is now working like it should.

The code happens anytime anyone presses the shutter button. It’s not an error. Read the other responses. The OP says everything. Is working now. My guess as to the sluggishness would be that it’s set for focus priority and slow to achieve focus.

Fly;
I did read all the other replies but there seemed to be several things that could blow the code. I was just curious what the OP actually found out his particular issue was. Nothing to me at all but I was curious.
Thank you for the reply.
Sir Bruce tha loose.

So..."What was YOUR PROBLEM"???

I am just curious, as I shoot the same camera, and yes I did read the other reply's as well.

Thanks,
Boone.

No code was blown. That should have been clear if you read the responses. Just a Nikon normally displaying what it’s supposed to when the shutter is pressed.
