AD 1415 - The forces of Henry V of Britain, numbering 5,000 Knights plus 6,000 soldiers armed with axes and swords plus 1,000 archers using the newly developed technology of the longbow soundly defeated the forces of, estimated as high as 30,000, Charles VI King of France at the Battle of Agincourt.
Henry lured the French into a muddy field of approach while Henry's forces lay in wait at an area with trees on both sides which acted as a funnel for the French approach and narrowed their numeric superiority.
The mud slowed their advance, and the longbow's range of 250 yards led to victory.
