So I picked up my new Canon R5 yesterday and now I'm waiting for my new 70-200 lens to arrive. Supposed to be 'out for delivery' according to UPS site. Keep staring out the window, but nothing yet. My lens adapter didn't come in yet so although I have lots of lenses,, can't do anything with them..
Hopefully that new lens arrives today.. the suspense is killing me. Argh!

I can't believe you folks haven't long ago invested in a UPS/FedEx Ring doorbell - or equivalent. One that senses motion - the arrival of the UPS/FedEx person - and sounds an alarm on your smartphone or PC, or other in house noisemaker.

Such a device is not necessary if you already have a sensor for approaching individuals, namely, a watchdog.

Given the switch most of us have made to on-line ordering - and the subsequent watching for the UPS/FedEx person - I don't know how I could live without my delivery sensor.

I have mounted a brass bell RIGHT NEXT TO MY FRONT DOOR. It has a very obvious pull rope hanging from the "clanger" inside the bell. And, a large sign (on the wall) next to the bell that says: "Ring bell for attendant!"

In twelve years since I installed the bell, it has NEVER been used by anyone delivering a package; or, wanting to gain my attention when I am inside the house; the music is coming from outside speakers; and, my car is parked right in front of the house at the end of a 100 ft driveway.

When I asked UPS; Fed Ex drivers; and, a number of others "Why did you not ring the bell?" Their reply has been universally the same: "I did not want to disturb you!"

"How about blowing the horn on your truck (or,car)?" Same answer! From EVERYONE! Go figure! <smile>

By the way, I live in a rural area; my nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away. . .They will not even call me on their cell phone while in front of the house. . .
