I was taking video of my kids long ago when they were still kids. My son kept making faces and I finally said "stop acting stupid". My daughter about 2 years old piped up and said "Don't you call my brother stupid!" very articulate and very serious. They are now in their mid thirties and barely speak to each other. What ever happened to my babies??

They grow up so fast. I only have one son who seems to be always busy. Usually only hear from him if he needs something or if I'm sick!

Beautiful shot. I would have post processed the entire photo. The hands, knees, and feet add to the story of impishness and kinetic energy. Enriching the portrait.

This child is the most uncooperative one I've ever encountered. As soon as she sees a camera, she starts acting out with silly looks etc. Trouble is, she's never quite sure when I've given up. I just keep clicking and manage a few when she relaxes or gets fed up with her own antics.

What a cutie. I was the same way. When a camera came out I went goofy.

Try silent shutter if your camera has it, so she won’t know when you are really shooting.

Well it was worth the effort, Deb. She's a cute little girl and will probably outgrow that characteristic.

I had good responses from most of the kids I photographed. I worked for a school yearbook publishing company and the teachers usually were effective in managing the kids. The most problematic ones were the high schoolers, teachers thought they were mature enough to behave. Most were but a significant number were not. The cutest ones were the lower elementary grades and they had the best comments or remarks for the photographers.

One retired grade school teacher who worked with us one year described the process best as, "Trying to nail jello to a tree."
