All I can say is, I am glad the people on this thread don't make the rules that we all have to abide by.

Its interesting that "sky replacement" is a NO No for some but things like "Dehaze", "Focus Stacking" and "HDR" don't rise to the same level of controversy.

I've walked around making beautiful sky photos for just such a purpose. Sometimes you need a more interesting sky because the photo you made didn't have a good sky in it. I then substitute a sky that works best with the photo. There is no crime. I shot both, they are mine and I combined them. No big deal. I've seen MANY SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera) photos that were boring, under exposed, or otherwise in need of a little boost. If you are a purist, good for you. If you are making a photo that you expect positive feedback on, you might need a little adjustment. This isn't a case of making forgeries for profit. This is a case of improving a photo to make it the best it can be. Why waste any more time on this subject? We've beaten it to death. Some people are never going to accept that a little makeup can make a model look more appealing.

So...16 Pages and counting.

When I was a kid, reading photography magazines, the ads for photography school suggested that a career in professional photography would bring pretty and handsome models, smiling cute babies, posh weddings, VIPs and CEOs and senior politicians, big-time ad layouts, exciting photojournalistic assignments in far off lands and of course fame and fortune.

Well. some of that came true but along came Covid. Now all I get to shoot is steamrollers, cement trucks and pumps, bulldozers, hydraulic shovels, and my very favourite cranes.

My industrial assignments find me on demolition and construction sites and my client's rent, sell and operate heavy equipment. Regardless of Covid, all the sites are in operation- it's all out-of-doors, and safe as far as the virus but a bit hazardous as far as hanging out of cherrypickers and walking around under heavy materials lifts. And the ad agency that is designing the brochures and trade show booths asked me to, are you ready?- kinda glamorize the scenes. Lots of these sites are dingy and dirty and the weather is seldom cooperative this time of year. Sky replacement time!

Fakery, I tell you rats! But the cleit is happy. Tomorrow it's gonna be the sewer drainage pump truck.
