Scripts will not work for the new CR3

I use scripts in photoshop to modify a folder of images all at once. the instructions say: select a folder, then next, there is a check box that says "open first image to make changes". I have been doing this for years using CR2
but with my new Canon 1DX mark III the CR3 files do not open the first image. So I am up to date on all the recent upgrades including the raw updater
My Mac is up to date using Catalina 10. 15.7 the photoshop is 21.2.4 and the raw is 12.4
I need to process around a thousand images so doing the one at a time is not reasonable

You seem like an Adobe subscriber. Use a benefit of the subscription and open a technical support chat with Adobe and get an official response and technical assistance on your specific issue directly from Adobe.

Extraordinary image! They just upgraded the suite. Your troubles may be over if you are using the latest Apple software and should be over if you are using Windows. Otherwise I would recommend using a .dng converter from one of many of the free resources out there.

There is a batch process button in Canon's DPP4 software, download on your camera support page, I haven't used it but the are videos and tutorials on the web, and download the DPP user manual, it gives detailed instructions.

I believe it can batch them for global settings and save out to tiffs, which Photoshop reads, but you'd have to read the manual or try a few.

The 1DX Mark 3 is supported by Adobe already. Since 12.2 and you said you are on 12.4. Time to chat with Adobe maybe?

Holy Moly..! What an amazing animal in its prime. I've traded pursuing game with a firearm and archery to that of a camera and this beauty would be a once in a lifetime photo.

Well, if Adobe says it can't be done with your CR3 images, it can't be done. Why would you come here and ask us when you've already got official word that Adobe says it won't work? They are probably working on it for future updates. In the meantime, try using DPP and doing a batch conversion with it. This is Canons editing software that is designed to work with their own CR3 files.

Any chance your script is calling for files with extension .cr2? If so, the script would need editing to change the extension to .cr3. (And if that was the case and you still have .cr2 files, it would be good to copy, edit, rename the script. And disregard if this response is off base. I don't use scripts, but this seemed like a possibility.?
