Its not. Nikon is having a hard time keeping on the plus side of profit. Both Sony and Olympus (now OM Digital Solutions Corperation for cameras) split their camera divisions off of the parent company. And all camera manufacturers are suffering sales wise due to smartphones. And that is probably going to continue. Every camera manufacturer is looking at ways to compete better with smartphones and how to save money in production costs.

When JIP bought Sony's laptop line, they charged premium prices and swapped out the quality parts Sony was known for.
It's a squeeze game for JIP.
They aren't in it for the long haul.

[quote=hogilbert]. Unless I use a tripod most images are soft. I have tried monopod with some success but I really like to shoot street photography so that does not work well. It has been suggested by some of my camera club friends that I may be able to hand hold a lighter camera. The mirrorless M4/3rds such as Olympus OM-DE-M10 Mark IV looks like it would be a lot lighter than the D750.

When I first responded to your inquiry I failed to mention a few things. In the case of Olympus and Lumix (Panasonic) Micro 4/3, the lenses are considerably less bulky and weighty for a given focal length, and the formal allows for a smaller body. Also, the Olympus "In-Body-Image-Stabilization"(IBIS), and at 5 Axis, is among the best with many camera companies playing catch-up. So, if you are having trouble steadying the camera, that feature alone will help with your Hand-Held street shots. The EM10 MkIVs will be shipping soon and I'm thinking of purchasing one as my "every-day" carry. Christmas is coming!!

At a young 84 I find I am no longer able to hold my D750 steady

At a "young" 89, I certainly feel the weight of my Nikon D750 and 24-120mm lens combination. The weight curtailed my shooting trips, outing durations, carrying additional lenses in the backpack, etc. Not willing to abandon my hobby, I developed my adjustment plan.

After careful research, I bought a Nikon Z50 with a FTZ. This combination weighs about 18 oz. and allows me to use all my Nikon lenses. Z50 has a 20.9MP DX-Format CMOS Sensor and the usual array of controls. I am certain Z50 will meet my current and future needs/growth. So far I am very happy with this setup. I plan to use Z50 a few more weeks to ensure I am happy with this combination. My next step is to sell my D750 and D7500 bodies.

I realize that everyone has her/his own requirements/conditions. One's solution may not fit to others.
I just like to share my solution to such a difficult situation. I feel that I have three areas in common with hogilbert, i.e. using Nikon D750, bothered by equipment weight and "young" age.

Best Regards.
