Great shot! Thanx for sharing.
I want to go shooting with YOU. Great attitude!
Thanks All, for your comments. Iโm glad you liked the image. There were also a few questions/statements, so I will do my best answer them in order:
1. Ourspolair: โDe-noising may have lost breast feather detailโ? I tend not to be too heavy-handed with noise reduction filters during post-processing; I believe thatโs what you are referring to? This particular individual is one of the lighter colored morphs/variants we have here in NE WI, so itโs possible that is why it appears to be lacking in color detail, compared perhaps to your local population of Red-tailed Hawks?
2. ClarkJohnson: This candid portrait was captured with a Canon 5D MkIV body and EF100-400mm L IS II USM lens; configuration = Aperture f/5.6โISO 320โShutter 1/320โFocal Length 400mm. So, I guess my answer is โclose enough to feel like a vole feelsโ? ๐
3. iosik123: You are welcome to tag along shooting with me anytime. I do of course practice social distancing at all times; Iโm also a WI DNR-registered Shoreline Fishing Guide & this photograph is an example from one of my wildlife guided shoots. Specialties for advanced photographer stalkers include Predators in Winter (an example):
https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-576521-1.html. I only have one rule: NO tripods/monopods! We have to travel long distances, quietly & fast, tracking targets of opportunity, expecting fast action at close to medium range.
