I have a wonderful flatbed scanner that will scan 24 35mm negs at once, then I updated from 7 to 10. Bad move! Canon said, good bye, no help. Is there anyone who has found an app, other than vueScan, that will work in win 10?

Like yourself, my scanner, which I purchased some 18 years ago, gave up being supported when I moved to Windoze NT. The best scanner driver software I've found and have used since is made by Silver Fast. Check with them. They probably make software for your scanner.

If you can't find suitable software for your scanner you can as a last resort install a Virtual Machine on your computer. Under the VM you can install Windows 7 or whatever OS you like and continue to use your scanner using whatever software works with Windows 7. This saved my behind when my scanner manufacturer and all independent scanner software providers failed to provide drivers that worked on Windows 10.

This does work and Oracle has a FREE virtual machine where you can install windows 7 (or even XP). https://www.virtualbox.org/ will bring you to it. You need an original Windows 7 or XP disk (or image) with a keycode for the install to work. It is a bit complicated but it can solve your problem.

Lifehacker has a nice page to walk you through the steps (https://lifehacker.com/how-to-set-up-a-virtual-machine-for-free-1828969527)

Sliverfast supports the Canon 9950F scanner. It's amazing that photo scanner hardware has not improved much since the era of Windows 98. However, Windows as it has moved to a 64 bit os, it requires totally new software to control a scanner. Most manufactures don't want to spend the time and effort to develop new software, as there is a limited number of photo scanners being sold today (thanks to digital cameras). Even Epson turned to Silverfast to support their mid priced current and recent photo scanners under Catalina on Macs.

That is true, as I am staying with windows 7 64 bit, at least for a while.
