This Nextstar+ is a real P.I.T.A , I've been out 3 nights beating my head against the wall Mars do not show up when I skew through Nexstars solar system menu . Where do I find it ? The manual says it's in there but, I don't see it in there . Help avx users !

That’s odd, you are saying that Mars is not in the menu?

I’m not sure what it could be, possibly time for a HC update and/or factory reset???

Make sure it is within the slew parameters or else it won't be listed. If it is too low on the horizon.

I am not a star gazer, but I would suggest looking up which Constellation Mars is in, then consult a Constellation map. Then hunt there.

alberio , I'm looking at Mars and still it's not loading in the Solar System skew. I went out last night and got my Polar alignment with cloud cover last night to do a mauck routine of alignment stars and then attempt to get a slew to the area where I know it is above a tree. Mars showed up with it's coordinates before I tried to align on 2 stars and I couldn't figure out how I got there. It's in the database but, it's hiding . I've watched youtube till I'm sick of it , I'm calling Celestron and try to get something there . I've go to get this figured out!

No problem with GoTo to any planet with the AVX mount; however, I am using the StarSense hand control so maybe that is the difference?

I'm assuming you have the correct location, time and date entered. If these are wrong, it is possible Mars can't be seen at the time / location the mount thinks it is at??

Brian , I'm sorry ! I forgot to post that I've been using this mount since March 2020 for the Darkside long exposure imaging. I missed out on Mars opposition because I couldn't find it in the Solar system database in the nexstar nor get it to go to Mars on the 13th. This is a real pita , I just need to figure this nexstar+ out but, this has got my brain like jelly and an awful headache that I've ever had before. Thank you for your input though , I need the sequence of buttons in the handpad to get me going .

I've marked up the NexStar+ menu with a couple of things to check.

1. View Time-Site to make sure your Time and Site is correct.
2. Use Setup Time-Site to change the above, if necessary
3. Time can also be set as part of the alignment process
4. Note Solar System menu item - Planets above horizon

5. If all else fails, find Mar's RA/Dec values and enter them directly under GoTo RA-Dec

Hope this helps.

I was freezing my bumm off last ight till 1130pm est , this nexstar has a bunch of stars that stellarium and I haven't even heard of . I think this it's a foreign mount and trying to work the problems in the cold isn't doing me justice. The call volume at the place where it was purchased is ridiculous , I did fill out a ticket and submitted it . Sharpcap wouldn't connect the efw because it's plugged into a hub , SGP everything connects. I bumped my guidescope out of alignment and now have to re-align it just one more set back . I'm back to reading and making sure that everything is inputted correctly. Everything looked good in the handpad last night but, maybe I need to just put a finder back on it and try it instead of leaving the guidescope on . I wonder if I re-install my other planetarium software if that 'll show me those stars that I've never heard of.

Well, I use Stellarium as my Planetarium and slewing program.
But some of the names used kinda piss me off, like Patrick Starfish Cluster.
I really doubt this is something new. I'm inclined to think it's a renaming of things long ago discovered.
And I don't like it.

Looks like tonight might be my last shot for several days. Supposed to be some Chance of rain coming in.
Lovely!
