Can anyone tell me about a DRY BOX / Cabinet for your cameras and lenses.
Do any of you use them?
What would require using them?
What is a good brand?

Any and all information would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've never used any.
I've kept all my gear in a bag or two for over 45 years.
Even when I lived in Florida as the house was air conditioned.

I would however use dry boxes if I lived in a very humid area with no A/C.
I definitely would not worry about a week or two in a humid location.

B & H has a series of humidity controlled cabinets by Ruggard and Sirui. Prices and features vary a lot.
Sorry, I couldn’t get the link to stick.
I just use a barristers book case and usually leave the doors open.

Yeah, I’d say that’s a bullseye.

I use something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Desiccant-Canister-Dehumidifier-Reusable-Chloride/dp/B07CZ856NV/ref=mp_s_a_1_20?dchild=1&keywords=dessicant&qid=1602920250&sr=8-20

that I bought years ago from the defunct PORTER’S CAMERA STORE .

Mine came on a glass container with a perforated metal lid, but otherwise seem the same.

Put them in a display case and enjoy your stuff.

I bought my Ruggard 80 liter last year. Summer is high humidity here in CT, but typically not an issue. Either way, it offers peace of mind and everything is readily available.

It’s also a clean look, so my wife doesn’t complain about it. I’m thinking of getting another to stack on top (I have 4 lenses, 2 DSLR bodies, one point/shoot, chargers, flashes, memory cards, external hard drives, miscellaneous electronic gadgets, all stored in bags and pouches. I’d like just a little more room.

I expect they might go on sale in a few weeks, so watch the prices until mid November.

What are your thoughts on this.....
I do live in Central Florida and have a great garage with built in steel cabinets...I was thinking about keeping my gear in one of them....if not getting a dry box...

In your garage, in Florida, really?? Is your garage air conditioned and insulated?

Inside your air conditioned and insulated home in FL there's not problem. I have kept all my gear either on a shelf or inside a camera bag. Not problem at all for me here in FL for over 30 years.

Unless you have one of those temperature controlled dehumidifier cabinets in your garage I wouldn't leave my equipment there.

Many Tupperware-style totes are air tight. I use several of those with large silica gel canisters to keep things dry. But I live in Florida in an air-conditioned home, so humidity is not really a problem. Taking my gear out into a hot humid day can cause condensation on and inside, so I keep them in a large ziplock bag for 15 minutes or so when I do that so that they can warm up without exposure to the moist air...

I personally use the120L Ruggard dry cabinet. You set the humidity level and it maintains that level automatically. They are available from B&H and others. I bought mine on sale for about 45% off list. B&H puts them on their daily specials about once or twice a year. You can sign up for daily specials on their web site.

The cheap and absolutely fine option is a plastic storage box with a sealing gasket in the lid, available for $10 or so in Home Depot, and closet silica gel dessicators. Damprid makes them in 300 or 400ml sizes, I can't remember exactly.
One in the case and keep a small hygrometer there as well for visual confirmation. They dessicant needs to be replaced every six months or one year. At 1/10 the cost or less of a dry cab. It's late now but I'll try to post links. I have one dry cab and as my gear has grown I now have 6 or 7 of the boxes and they work perfectly.

Depends on where you live.
Arizona...no need.
Florida..oh yeah.
They also keep a lot of dust away from your gear...which is everywhere.
