Luminar 4 Update, V4.3.0

I just downloaded the new Luminar 4 update, V4.3.0.
It seems to launch faster without the "splash screen freeze".
It also seems, to my uncalibrated eyes, to run smoother and faster. Now searching through my library is Much Faster and MUCH LESS Frustrating!
This update addresses a lot of concerns and problems which I had and lessens the "buyers remorse" that I had with this program.
I should never have been pushed out the door with these problems.
I initially purchased it for the "sky changing and portrait mode" capabilities.
Happily, these functions still seem to be fully intact.

For me the key question before plucking up courage to adopt is "How reliable is the library function?' Early adopters seemed less enamoured of its asset management capabilities and I'm wondering if things have improved or has all the development been devoted to its processing functionality.

Good to know. Thx for the tip. I trashed 4.3 weeks ago. May give it a 2nd chance this weekend.

I can't say that the library function is as reliable as LR.
The only things that I initially addressed are working well and much faster without freezing.
That includes the library.

Hint: 1. Give it a chance to work by shutting down all other photo programs or any other known memory hogs.
2. Also, open "Task Manager" to "Performance" mode to see just what is using you memory besides Luminar 4 and shut that down itf it is significant.
Best Wishes All & Stay Well.

You are correct about the improvements.

I have been using Luminar and Aurora for a few years. I do love the sky replacement. I use my own skies, and have been able to put them into the program. I name them with the location they were taken.

I do find everytime there is an update, I have to install my own again.

I have a discount code, PM me if interested.

Oingo boingo - just updated to 4.3. Literally a minute to do it. No perceivable problems. Did a "data base migration" and all is right with the world. So far....

Yup to all of the above. L4 is improving with every release. Although not perfect, it has come a long way and now competes on even ground and with some functions outs the competition. Perhaps in a year or two it will be a "go-to" that the masses will enjoy.

Cheers!

Yes to all of the above. No problem updating.

Hate to hijack thread but does anyone know when Luminar AI will be released? I pre-ordered but am curious when it will be available for download.

And will Luminar AI be considered an update to Luminar 4.3, or will the two be separate programs?

AI is a separate program. You get a discount if you own Luminar.

Besides replacing skies, artifacts, etc, is Luminar useful as a general processing tool, or am I better off using Lightroom?

Personally, I’m trying to wean myself off all Adobe products. They’re resource hogs. I have the Photographer Bundle of Lightroom and Photoshop. I’ve been using Lightroom for quite a few years and have never bothered with Photoshop. Besides, it is subscription based and even though it is relatively inexpensive at $10.79 a month, that really adds up. I’d much rather pay a one-time fee, e.g., Luminar.
