Concours d'Elegance - How I saw them How I found them.

Recently I attended a Concours d'Elegance featuring some of the best examples of classic cars from the golden age of automobiles from the 1920's and 30's. Because of the appeal of these type of shows for auto enthusiasts, they are normally flooded with people and the cars sandwiched together making photography difficult. I thought I would portray some of the cars in a setting which would enhance the true beauty of the car. The first two pictures have gotten a little help in post, while the last three are as I found them at the car show. I removed a few people from the third image. Better in download. Hope you enjoy them. I've got a lot more images if there's an interest.

Nice job all around. Your composites “show the cars” and not the car show. It blows me away that every car show I have ever attended seem to be more about squeezing in every possible entrant into the least amount of space possible instead of creating enough space to let the every car shine. Your creativity has has elevated your subjects from the next in line snapshot to a very pleasing photographs. Very nice job.

Where was this show? I noticed a DeLorean in the background of one of your photos and my son has 2 so I was wondering where the show was.

Appreciate the comments Stan. I had to flip the image to fit the road. Thanks for viewing.

Glad you liked them and your comment captured the concept nicely "Show the car and not the car show" Spend most of your time waiting for people to move. Easy to deal with "things" behind the car but not in front of it. Thanks for your generous comments.

The show was at Stan Hywet Hall, estate of Frank Seiberling, co-founder of Goodyear Tire & Rubber, in Akron, OH. There is an annual car show there on Father's Day and occasionally they upgrade the show to a Concours d'Elegance. Thanks for commenting and glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks Mike, I enjoy playing with ideas like this. Spending more time behind the computer these days instead of my camera.

Thanks for looking in and your kind comments Karin. If you've not been to Stan Hywet, they have very nice gardens open all year. My favs are the Japanese and English Walled gardens. Rhododendrons and azaleas are spectacular in spring.
