I just unwatch once a political post is made and move on.
Not like all posts are political.
NO forum will be perfect, and I accept that.
Equipment bias, methodology bias, subject bias, nah, no forum is perfect.

One finds a particular ad offensive.
Only allow ads that one approves?

I find all ads offensive. Now what?
Ignore and move on or get pissed, take my ball, and go home...

It is my understanding that UHH has no control over advertising on the site. The adds are placed by Google thru the website host.
UHH is free. Maybe you would be happy if UHH could offered a add free version for $2 or $3 a month? I prefer free and just ignore the adds.

Correct! If I'm researching laptops, I'll see laptop ads for days. Admin doesn't do that. Technology does. I don't mind the ads, and Admin doesn't like ad blockers. I've actually bought things advertised here.

UHH probably does not have any control over the content of the ads that are targeting you. In fact, I suspect that some algorithm about what you do on your computer, generates the ad. Some suggestions, consider using a search engine other than Google. I use DuckDuckGo to maintain privacy. Also, some browsers have a masked ability (Firefox) where your browsing is confidential. But go onto Youtube and your viewing history will certainly generate ads directed to you.

In other words, leaving UHH because of an ad would be like changing car brands (Ford to Chevy) because you saw a billboard on the freeway that you did not want to see.

It's time to grow up. There is no free lunch. This forum is free though. Would you rather pay a monthly subscription fee?

This is the Hotel California of photography forums --- "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave"

If you cannot contribute anything relating to photography, it might be as well if you did quit!

Do you not watch TV because they have commercials?

Vampires, werewolves, fallen angels and camera thieves lurk in most banner ads, and their intentions far from honorable.

And, they want to sell you stuff you don't need.
