StanMac Loc: Tennessee

My first job out of college was with GTE as an outside plant engineer. As part of my OJT I worked with a line crew for a couple of weeks building cable facilities in some pretty hilly rural Tennessee locations. I think the line crew enjoyed jerking this newby college boy around by giving me the more physically demanding jobs, one of which was pulling that cable lasher on a 50-pair cable up an off-road slope through the brush where the truck couldn’t go. I struggled Jerking that thing along for about a 100 feet until they took pity on me and another crew member got on the line with me.
