I have a Canon 24-70 2.8 lens, first edition, that needs to have the aperture-diaphragm part replaced and Canon will not repair it because of its age. Does anyone know of a reputable, reasonable repair shop that will do this job? I looked in the Search part here but did not find anything. Thank you.
You don't give us any clue to how the iris is misbehaving, but it is probably worth having someone take a look at it. There may not be a requirement for any replacement parts. It is very common for the lubricant on aperture irises to gum up after a time, making it appear that they have failed when all that is needed is a good cleaning and servicing. I iwould suggest that it is important to not try to use the lens until you can get it repaired...the leaves of the iris are quite fragile and can be quite luiterally ripped apart if they are stuck.
