Lens Repair - Canon

I have a Canon 24-70 2.8 lens, first edition, that needs to have the aperture-diaphragm part replaced and Canon will not repair it because of its age. Does anyone know of a reputable, reasonable repair shop that will do this job? I looked in the Search part here but did not find anything. Thank you.

Probably a problem with replacement parts.
Whoever may be able to repair it may have to cannibalize another lens.
Cost to replace vs. repair?

You don't give us any clue to how the iris is misbehaving, but it is probably worth having someone take a look at it. There may not be a requirement for any replacement parts. It is very common for the lubricant on aperture irises to gum up after a time, making it appear that they have failed when all that is needed is a good cleaning and servicing. I iwould suggest that it is important to not try to use the lens until you can get it repaired...the leaves of the iris are quite fragile and can be quite luiterally ripped apart if they are stuck.

They stop support when they no longer have parts for an old model.

It might just need a good cleaning but no one can really help you (other than some national repair center) without knowing where you are. Someone in NYC will have more local choices than someone in rural Nebraska.

Try Eurotech Camera Services in Austin, TX. Sorin Marcu (the owner) has been in the repair business for decades. The tel # is (512) 479-5090.....

Hi. My name is Rick. I’m the owner and lead technician at Discount Camera Repair and a member in good standing here at the UHH. I’ve been doing repairs for other members here at greatly discounted rates and would be glad to help.

I'd be more than happy to repair the lens for you and keep the cost as low as possible. If you’re interested, please respond by private message.
