The last of my photos from our visit to Cumbria last week are of the seaside village of Haverigg and all of the photos are of the small harbour area photographed from various positions.I've also added some info below for your perusal.

Haverigg is a village on the south-west coast of Cumbria, England, historically part of the county of Cumberland. In 2001 it had a population of 1,791 in 548 households,[1] increasing in 2011 to a population of 1,849 in 549 Households.[2]

The name Haverigg derives from the Old Norse and can be translated as "the hill where oats are grown".[3]

Haverigg is at the mouth of the Duddon Estuary, a protected area important for birds and other wildlife. Haverigg has an extensive, quiet Blue Flag beach. There is also access to a seawall with a lighthouse which protects Hodbarrow Lagoon, part of Hodbarrow RSPB Reserve. Haverigg Pool, a small river, flows through Haverigg and joins the estuary of the River Duddon here.[4]

Beautiful, Jim.

The Harbour Hotel photo looks like it was taken from the small bridge near the intersection of Sea View and Poolside roads.

One thing interesting to me is that the building that is the focus of your set is multi-colored. I've been all over Cumbria, including near this village, and I've not seen that before. The buildings tend to be brown, beige or white in color, in keeping with the tradition and history of the area. I'm told by friends in the area that the Cumbria County Council is strict when it comes to the appearance of buildings, including houses.

Having said that, I believe that I will try to visit Haverigg the next time we're allowed to travel to the UK from the US. This is the first year in many that we've not been able to do so.

Very nice set. Your photos are always an inspiration.

Jim, Thanks for taking me on a tour of the village of Haverigg. I hope when covid 19 settles down, we can have a drink in that pub.Stan
