I sent your recipe to my bro-in-law and he said because of the beans it would not meet the Texas Chili Standards.

I never said I made it for a Texas Chili Cook Off..It was for a local Cook Off that allowed Beans or no Beans which was a different Class..

Beans? Being from Michigan we always had beans in our chili and referred to it as Boston Chili.

Maybe that's why there are no beans in Texas chili....to distinguish it from Yankee chili!!

Just finished your Chili recipe. Delicious.

one question. In the preparation part you mention "Sausage". However, no mention of sausage in the recipe. We used regular sausage but curious if we should have used a particular type

My Bad...I forgot to take the Sausage out of the directions,I like it better with just the Beef, or half beef and Half Venison..you can use any meats you like so long as it equals 2 lbs..I'm so glad you enjoyed it..

My wife made chile this week. Just plain old regular chile, not tournament chili or anything, but something was decidedly different about it. It had a uniquely better taste. Turns out she used Nolan Ryan 85-15 instead of just ground chuck. I told her to stick with the Nolan Ryan.

I use the Mild Rotel , if you prefer a spicier Chili then I would use the Hotter Version.. You can also use a blend of ground meats like 1 lb Hamburger and 1 lb Ground Pork or (Sausage) And its even better when you use Venison any of these Meats is good to use even Turkey so long as it's 2 lbs total..

Just wanted to let you know that I made your recipe. It was delicious... one of the best chili recipes I have made. I used 1lb 80/20 beef and 1lb Jimmy Dean original sausage. I was looking for ground pork but the supermarket did not have any. The only think I did different was that I used 2 green peppers... for some reason I thought the recipe said two, but it was fine. I will definitely make it this way again.

My brother loved it too, but his wife said it was a little too spicy for her, even though I used the mild Rotel. Maybe next time I will use mild salsa as well.
