Anybody out there have any G2 as to when, if Canon will begin shipping the R5 again? I placed my order 2 1/2 months ago with B&H and, so far, despite several unkept commitments from the B&H people they seem to not have any firm or even rumor of an idea as to when they will get product from Canon.

My local store just received a couple this week and I'm next in line. They have been getting a shipment each week but only 1 or 2 R5's. They said if you signed up now, they expect it to arrive in 10-12 days. But who knows? I'm thinking at that rate I'm happy I signed up with a smaller store than B&H.

According to Adorama, they are expecting some to arrive the 20th of October. There's no guarantee, of course. And, depending upon how many they get, might already all be sold.

B&H Camera says pre-orders placed now likely won't ship until "November", so at least 10 or 11 days later. Previously (in late Sept.) they had notified folks who had placed orders that they were expecting a shipment in "late October". Of course, we have no way of knowing if all those have been pre-sold or not.

Some other Canon authorized retailers have been citing "late October", too.

Most simply state "backordered" and don't give a date they are expecting to receive more.

Put a call in to Allen's Camera. A friend of mine received his from there not too long ago. Link below:

In the military, it’s intelligence.

That's what you say when you see a guy with two $5,000 cameras.

It would be hard to say with so many people wanting the camera the demand far exceeds production.
Then there might be world events slowing production but at this point I doubt that has any effect at all on production.
So it looks to be just the huge demand.

Just got mine from B&H and ordered I think opening day but late a night. Many in front of me. They were good at sending messages from time to time. Bottom line they have the list fifo and when they get a shipment from Canon they send what they have. They do not like this anymore than you. Patience. I did at one time send message to "ordering id" and sent sent a response quickly. That does not mean they are clairvoyant.

I had been looking forward to the camera when rumored years ago and when I found out I had to have an adaptor to use my EF lenses that was a flag for me. " RF mount lenses employ a 12-pin connection between the camera and lens — for comparison, the EF-mount uses 8 pins...Apr 8, 2019" EF lens came out in 1987.

Perhaps there are more people who have invested in the EF lenses and the demand for the new camera and lenses is not what Canon had hoped. I upgraded my camera to a Canon 90D and so far am very happy with it. For those of you who remember Microsoft operating systems, Vista comes to mind as R5 and the new RF lenses.

I am sure that Canon is assured that this is along the same lines as when the introduced new cameras that matched the EF line but I am no longer convinced.

It appears that the existing market has a global impact

I don't have the money to buy and read the report but it brings up interesting points from what I can see.

Having spent three years in the military, military and intelligence in one sentence is an oxymoron!
