Its true what they say about the North of England, it rains most of the time it is certainly damp virtually all of the time and the people no they arent miserable all of the time. I shot this on a cold certainly damp day last December in Manchester's main shopping area called Deansgate. As it was so grey and overcast decided it would only work in a B & W

It is not a bad conversion to Black & White.

Stopped in England once in 1961. Boat docked in Southhampton, no docks in Bremerhaven for our troop ship, we had a day and an overnight and some Brits had the foresight to get a train for troops to go to London. To get off the boat you had to have $10.00 USD. I sold my timex watch for $4.00 and then had $10.00

Train from docks to London, bus tour, with lunch box provided during tour and then drinking in pubs. Went to my first 'Whimpy Burger' and thought of Popeye. Stumbled around Picadilly before rushing back to train station and a ride back to the USNS Upshur to continue on to Germany.

Lovely country and at that time, well received where ever we walked.

That conversion really sets the mood and conveys the feeling you describe.

Pity you never had the time to see the beautiful North West of England, not to mention the lovely Peak District Yorkshire and North East, am sure though Sarge if you visited this wonderful Island again the people would be just as friendly.

Thanks for looking by the way.
