I am looking for a used 16-35mm lens for my D610. On MPB's site, they have three for sale. Aii in excellent condition. The only rub all three state "There is an extremely minor amount of dust within the lens" To be this is not a good thing. Am I correct in thinking so??

Thank You

I think all used lenses have a bit. It doesn't really affect the image quality that I've seen or heard unless it is big or a heavy coating, since the light is not focusing there, just passing through on its way to the sensor. Folks here say that MPB is a dependable site, as is keh.com and bhphotovideo.com.

What about the lenses that you already have? No dust? I my experience any used lens has dust inside it. The only way to avoid it is to put your brand new lens in a ziplock bag right out of the box and leave it there.

A lot of sellers say the same thing to protect themselves from buyers who just want to try out a lens and then return it.

I have previously read that even a brand new lens could have dust inside.

In the first place, as stated already it is common for a used lens to have some dust in the inside elements. That will not affect the quality of the images. Sellers protect themselves when they state that a lens has some dust inside and indeed many used lenses do.
Buy with confidence from MPB. If anything wrong they stand by the products they sell.

I've had good luck with keh, you have 2 weeks to return it for any reason, but you pay shipping. I believe a 6 month warranty after that.
