Saw a vulture on the top of dead tree and took many photos yesterday morning. I took a lot of photos back to August. I am not sure whether they are same one. Here are a few of the photos taken yesterday morning.

A Texas vulture story in Texas. When I was instructing helicopter students at Ft. Wolters in Mineral Wells I ran across many vultures feeding on dead live stock. A vulture will feed until he is so engorged with food he is too heavy to actually fly. I would swoop in and since they couldn't fly they would run across the ground regurgitating what they just ate until they got light enough to fly. Also, I read someplace that a vulture is the only bird that defecates on it's own feet. They are pretty much disease resistant and somehow someone came up with the thought that this might have something to do with it. Remember, I'm not a believer just the messenger. Just a little far out for me to totally buy into that one. Nevertheless an interesting bird although a bit disgusting at the same time.

Great shots! Have to agree it looks as though the vulture was checking you out and posing for you! Stay well and keep up the good work.

Great shots. I like Number One best but that open mouth pose is often followed by the vulture's most effective defensive mechanism--They puke on you.

Gee, that sounds nasty !!!! And as you might predict vultures don't have a real great sense of humor.
