I have used the Tap in console (Tamron) for the 150mm-600mm G2.
Has to adjust the lens at the 600mm. Easy to work with. results are excellent.

I beg to differ. The Tamron tap-in console allows you to calibrate for 6 different focal lengths. It took me a whole day to calibrate my G2 with my Nikon D810, but the time spent is totally worth it.
I own the console, but I still have to decide which method to use to measure its error correction needs. What exactly did you do? Did you purchase special charts and have to measure the exact distance from the lens to the chart? Thanks in advance.
I followed the instructions measuring focus accuracy at the 3 distances they recommend in there download.
I used only the minimum focusing distance to check the focus on 150mm, 300mm 500mm and 600mm.
starting with -0-, taking picture of a chart I downloaded from the internet. checked the focusing wrote it down and than entered the adjustment number into the console program when the lens is attached to the console. In my case, the lens needed adjustment only at the minimum focus distance(7.2 meter) at the 600mm. once I got the number, I entered it into the program while the lens is connected to the console and clicked on update. Waited for the program to make its changes in the lens.
Sorry, just to clarify. You adjust the front or rear focus of the lens on the camera. you write it down. than you enter it into the console's program in the related column when the lens is attached to the console and click update. When you are done. change the front or rear focus number in your camera back to -0-. In this way the lens is the one that get the changes and you camera AF adjustment stays a -0-

Ok sounds good. I’m also trying to decide if I should pick up the 1.4 teleconverter
I don’t think it will focus with the teleconverter at longer focal lengths.
Teleconverter may change everything as it bring other variables into the pictures like light, F stop, etc.
The Tap-in console is for fine tune the focus on the lens.

I got the G2 last year and love it - never tried the first version! I only had an a77 at the time and now I have an a99ii to go with it. I had to microadjust on the a77 (-3 or +3...I forgot) but it seems to work great with the a99ii as far as I an tell. I used a focusing target between houses instead of a dock, which I've never tried to use. It was so sunny out that it was hard to see the rear viewscreen...more of a guestimate, but it must have worked out fine, because I shot a Picture of the Week with it for an online daily aviation newsletter.

Or you, by happy coincidence, had adjusted it perfectly for that focal length. :-).
