Before I retired I managed the used camera equipment portion of Cameta Camera - so I know a good deal about the industry. KEH is an extremely reputable company. They tend to be conservative in their ratings of the gear (cosmetics) so many folks find that when they order a product listed at a specific cosmetic level they end up being pleasantly surprised when the item arrives. They offer a very decent warranty on the used items. I would not hesitate at all to purchase from them - in fact I have done so myself.

Do you know whether they purchase Canadian equipment? Thanks.

I have been buying from KEH for years, never had a problem. Very conservative grading. Alwas better than it is graded.
You can also try Used Photo Pro, they are also good.
Try KEH and you save the tax with their payboo credit card.

Payboo is B&H methinks.

They are a very good company. My gear is kept in great condition. I sent some of the older stuff
like a Nikon FM and got $220 for it. I would highly recommend them for buying and selling.
The story about the service on the $6000 lens sent back for weight no problem tells the story.

I have been dealing with KEH for over 20 years now, and have never had even the slightest problem. That might be one of the lenses that I sold to them!

There are many people on the Webs declaring woe from KEH selling out.
No one had any examples of poor service or products, just predictions of maybe possible dooms.
In the meantime, tho I don't know if it's from Canada, Connecticut or Kawaii. Box says KEH.
I have a very pristine Nikon 35/135 sitting here about to be the next carry around for my D3200.
I'll be outside in 20 checking it out.

‘. . .declaring woe from KEH selling out.

Can you describe what this means?

I (like some here) have "helpful" friends. They send me stuff.
They'll email things, usually (like many here) trying to better them selves at my expense.
SO: as recent examples of the "OMG! You gotta see this!" offerings:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQxuN6N-sYo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYcDsmG32fw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cTL4gRno-k

And because of a notso but kinda recent purchase
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Urlf9sEjqtg
I had bought an "UGLY" 85mm. Dusty, dirty greasy, with a well rubbed finish.
An hour of rocket air and alcohol wipes and it was clean. Add a half hour with a Sharpie.
It's a very nice "GOOD" lens. Shoots and works well. Tiny softness top left hand corner.
How much to pay a tech to do that? And a possible return/recheck/resale because of that corner?

People are just people. ie: I may try to sell a lens.
I've been ignoring/accepting all those dings, scratches etc without noticing them.
Whomever I send it to will specifically look for all those, taking points off the "perfect" checklist.
My old russian M42 has a very slight yellow cast- good+ for me, notso for that guy.
And he has to clean it, test it, rate it, make it pretty, package it, ship it, and make a little profit.
If you're lucky, you may sell it for @ 65% of the selling price. Some people take that personally.

I have no problems with KEH. They've always been good to me and everyone else I know.
Just accept that a used product is a used product. The original owner sold it for an undisclosed reason.
YMMV

I've dealt with them several times and no problems + they give you 180 day guarantee on what you purchase + you can buy extended coverage separately through them. My thought if something works for 180 it's going to last, but that's just me. Prices seem to be better than Adorama and B&H on used too. Good luck.

Dang KEH! Got me again.
I should know better.
I was just window shopping. Perusing. Updating my sense of what's worth what.
Took a couple ganders over at the kehoutlet.
And bought an old "fair" Nikon 43/86.
*why???*
I still have TWO 35/70s. There's NO "gap" to fill!
But it was cheap. A "good deal". Didn't have one.
Fast shipping. Just got it. It's a bit better than one of my 35/70s.
Their idea of "Fair" is better than a retail store's "Good+".
Give it time.
I'll be back.

KEH shipped me the wrong lens... Not what was advertised...
They refunded my purchase and provided a "free" shipping label.
They claimed the mistake was made in their shipping department?
Once purchased the serial number clearly identified the lens to be NOT what KEH advertised...

Roberts, Usephotopro, mpb and B&H (who use the serial number in the product code) LIST the serial numbers and typically get it right. So do many eBay sellers...

KEH Does NOT show the serial number until AFTER you purchase the item.
That sucks... In my humble estimation.
That said I have Nikon F Mount glass that purchased from KEH which I cherish...

btw, B&H has sold me a defective used lens also... They immediatedly refunded my purchase and provided a "Free" shipping label.

So I still consider KEH and B&H legitimate dealers... Just take care to validate the purchase within the return interval... enough said.

What is the very worst source of photo kit? Amazon Vendors... they are absolutely terrible... I've received lens with horrific scratches on the optic listed as "Mint" +++ Do not purchase from Amazon...

Oh, and KEH now sells on eBay... they do not have very good eBay seller reviews...
I now purchase primarily from Japanese eBay sellers... They have proven to be the most reliable.. and have the best prices... Japanese photographers seem to take stellar care of their kit...
