Excellent set, Joe. If these were mine, I'd have #7 large and on the wall. It's like you snuck back in time with DSLR. Great detail too.

Thank you very much Steve for looking and your appreciation - this was just a little taster - more to come in a few months when I will present the whole trip - in the meantime I am hoping to start another interesting series next week. Again, thanks for looking and your kind comment. Joe

you're quite the traveling man!

Thank you very much MT for having a look at another one of my presentations - I do very much appreciate your comment - and yes, travelling has been in my blood, if not in my dna - no way around it, so I am sort of fervently hoping for this present crazyness to subside so I can take off on my (or their) wings again! In the meantime, this gives me extra time to work on my photobacklog - as you can see virtually I still live in 2016!

Fantastic detail & color. Amazing that some structures in Europe have survived that many years. And built w/o modern-day construction equipment. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thank you very much whatdat for visiting this post and your very kind comment. And yes, it is very amazing how these structures survive for centuries, though in all fairness I have to point out that some of these towns were just about wiped off the earth during WWII and all the historically correct structures we see have been painstakingly rebuilt in the 50's, 60's and 70's. On the other hand, some towns got pretty much totally missed by the bombing and still show their truly old structures, such as Quedlinburg and Celle, while the Polish towns in general suffered very great damages. As I mentioned, I will eventually post a complete series on this trip, but that is probably a few months down the line, in the meantime, I hope to start up another travel series on a very special place next week - and hope to have you along as well! Joe

Thank you very much John, I appreciate your visiting this post and your kind comment. I am not printing any shots anymore, not much wall real estate left, but what I do is running my photos every day through my tv and having 10 second snaps in random configureation of my pictures constantly challenging my memory to declare what THAT was before it moves on - mesmerizing and humiliating at the same time! Again, I appreciate your input! Joe

Just as an addition: the map of our drive.

This, again, is a wonderful idea, Joe, and the pilot looks very promising!

Thank you very much Eugene - we will see how it is going to play out - after all it is all just architecture, no flowers, almost no landscapes - as Mike coined it: an architectural autobahn, so we will see how we will fare!
I am glad you enjoed this preview - and if you have time: I plan to start up another set of a very different and very photogenic country next week - keep your eyes open - and I will keep my fingers crossed that people will take to it! Take care, have a good Sunday - Joe

Great trip. You might consider a slight side trip for a stop "In Bruge", Belgium. It would compliment your other stops nicely, but avoid the weekend crowds if possible.

Thank you fantom for your kind comment. I am glad you liked the presentation. Bruges is a great city and technically still on the North European Plain, but on this trip I was concentrating on the more northerly places. I have visited Bruges (and Ghent, Brussels etc) a few times, last time about 9 years ago. If you are interested to see my shots from Bruges, you can access my photo-website at www.weberwest.weebly.com . Click on the tab "Albums-Chronological" on top, then scoot all the way down towards the bottom for the date 2011 Jun "UK & Belgium". At that time I did not yet do separate albums for each city, so Bruges is part of that album. There are only a very few pictures of Bruges in the "Short" album, so I would recommend clicking on "Full" and there you find a pretty good coverage with just under 100 images. This was one of the earlier albums I did, still shooting in jpeg on a cropped sensor camera and doing just very minimal post work on Picasa, so the quality leaves a bit to be desired, but it covers the area nicely - we were actually there invited by our kids (who live in London and Switzerland) for our 40th anniversary. You can click on each photo to open up full screen and get the info text via the "i" in the circle (or turn it off).
Thanks again for your comment.

Thank you very much topcat for looking in on this preview, I am glad you enjoyed the tour, which I will hopefully present in full in a few months. Tomorrow I will start with another lengthy travelogue, maybe you may wish to tag along on that one! Joe
