At 10,000 feet, the aspens are starting to change. The mountain peaks have had snow already, but warm sunny days have temporarily erased that beautiful scene.

They're beautiful when they change color. I heard that a grove of aspens is actually one giant organism, rather than individual trees.

They are called clones. Often when a grove is observed the center will be taller. The outer trees become shorter as they progress from the center indicating they are younger trees from the original parent. DNA testing confirms this phenomenon.
