AD 1962 - The AMERICAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION airs its first color television series, the JETSONS.

AD 1926 - James Joseph 'Gene' Tunney defeats William Harrison 'Jack' Dempsey in a ten round unanimous decision to win the World's Heavyweight Boxing Championship at Sesquicentennial Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The bout was deemed by many to be the greatest upset of the first half of the twentieth century.

AD 1806 - Meriwether Lewis and William Clark arrived in Saint Louis, Missouri completing their journey of exploration to the Pacific Northwest.
