I was. Then I started at the bottom of the list of authorized Nikon dealers and found one 27 places up. I had to pay sales tax, but it wasn't what I would've paid in WA state. To me, it was worth paying not to be on B&H's long waiting list forever. I should have it by the end of the week, if not sooner. I found mine at The Camera Company in Madison, WI. They may have more if you're looking to purchase one and don't mind paying around $200 in sales tax.

I’d originally put my order in with B&H months and months and months ago. While I was waiting, I put in an order with a camera shop in Central NJ, and received it in less than 3 weeks. Even though I paid NJ sales tax, I thought it was worth it. I’ve had the lens since October and it has pretty much replaced my Tamron 150-600 G2 on my D500. Who knows if I would have received the lens from B&H by now had I not ordered it closer to home from “small” camera shop.

I have tried numerous times to just get off their mailing (electronic advertising) list. I constantly receive their notices that the lens is not available. I have tried to unsubscribe countless times and telephonically at least twice. I bought the lens at least a year ago from District Photo in Virginia. I am always treated well and fairly there and never pestered.

I got mine from: https://mpex.com/
Call them, give them a $300 refundable deposit (they are reliable) and get on their list. I got mine in just one week after doing this but they had told me it could take 2-3 months. At the time (Feb) they were only getting 1 per month.

Aren't you buying a Nikon 800mm 5.6? And a big tripod? and a Gimbal head?
If you join Nikon Professional Services, they will get you one.

Nikon 500 PF....I was on the wait forever list from B&H & Adorama. I spoke to Steve Perry a knowledgeable Nikon guy who does considerable research on their products and is a contributor on this site. He pointed me to a Nikon authorized dealer www.ProCam.com located in the midwest (Detroit, Chicago & Cincinnati). I called & discovered they had 3 of them in stock....Also found out hat Roberts Camera in the midwest had 1...

I don’t understand everything I am supposed to know about waiting list. I imagine I was simply lucky when two months ago I happened to look for a 500 PF online with Adorama and bingo they had one and I purchased it immediately. I don’t know if Adorama has a waiting list procedure but I am very happy I got my lens the easy way. Great lens.

One can't just join NPS. You need to be a full-time working pro and be able to prove it. It's NOT a club!

I have had mine for around 2 years and use it on a D500, love this lens.
