Problem with Canon Pro 100 printer question?

1. Does anyone have a direct phone # to Canon to get help?
2. After getting a low black ink message and I replaced the cartridge with a self filled one, I got a 4 yellow light blinking error. After a lot of messing around to identify the problem/problems including checking that all cartridges are correctly entered, and reset on my resetter, and finally Deleted printer completely and then reinstalling it. But I’m still getting the 4 Yellow error blinking lights.
3. I’m afraid to go buy a new complete set of ink cartridges just to find out that my printer is trash!!
4. Any help will be absolutely wonderful!!!

Does you refill kit include a "chip resetter", if not that is likely to be the problem. The chip, which really only does an estimate of ink levels, says the cartridge is empty. I use Precision Colors (and am lusting after their new improved line of inks) and reset the chip every time I refill or top off the cartridges before a big print job.

The other possibility is no chip at all - you said a "self filled one", do you mean an after market refillable cartridge? Almost none of them come with a chip, you have to remove the chip from an OEM cartridge and put it on the new cartridge. I have done that once. But most of my cartridges are OEMs cleaned and modified by Precision Colors. Those are hard to get as they are always short of them and often run out (people need to send old OEM cartridges in to be redone-not toss them or recycle them with their trash. And the ones that you put in the "recycle" bin at the place you buy your cartridges go ...???..., but probably not to Precision Colors or the other high end aftermarket ink companies. You can get kits to clean, flush and modify OEM cartridges yourself but it is a pain to do in my opinion. Esp, the yellow, something about the factory yellow ink makes it cause major problems if the refilled cartridge is not absolutely cleaned out.
Precision colors does sell third party refillable cartridges but they outright tell you they are not as good as OEM cartridges. The people that make the OEM cartridges will NOT sell empty or refillable cartridges to anyone but the people who load Canon's OEM cartridges.

If you call Canon support and tell them you put in a refilled cartridge 2 things will probably happen:
1. printer warranty canceled if it is still in effect
2. one guy I talked to got told that basically it was his problem since he used other than an OEM cartridge

Four yellow lights mean cartridge is empty or not installed properly. When you open the lid is the black ink cartridge lit red?

If you open the printer driver or try to print are you getting and error message?

Phone number is 1-800-OK-CANON, but as stated above they won't offer support. Too many variables are introduced with third party inks.

I don't refill & have close to 3 sets of empty cartridges & was thinking of offering them to a UHH member in the printing forum. If someone here wants them & wants to cover postage, pm me.

My Epsom printer use Claria ink it has the thinnest droplets of any ink generic ink cartridge manufacturers in the UK do not produce Claria ink. Only Epsom do it you use self till cartridges you would need to reset the chip on the cartridge. How? I do not know

I didn't look this up but a long time ago I worked for Mobil Oil and for some reason there were several auto companies and others that used lubricating oil in the machines. If I remember correctly it had something to do with companies telling their customers that they had to use a certain type of oil, i.ie. Mobil or their warranties were voided. Of course, there was collusion between the oil companies and the other manufacturers to sell that oil. The act you are speaking of cleared that up by saying that if that was true then the i.e. auto manufacturer had to supply the oil for free during the warranty. In the end that is how you ended up with "or equivalent" in warranties. Just another rip off by car and other manufacturers. Or, my memory has failed me and I'm all wrong.

The gist of it is simply using 3rd party ink cannot void the warranty, however if 3rd party ink turns out to be the cause of the problem it won’t be covered by the warranty.
