We were issued the leather flight gloves going through flight training, but when I got to Vietnam, we were all issued the nomex gloves. I used them for riding my motorcycle for a long time after I got out.

Many years ago Fairchild Hiller Aircraft published 'My Big Helicopter Coloring Book" for one of the major aviation industry shows, in it one cartoon shows a Helicopter Pilot with the caption, "This is our chief test pilot. He is brave, dashing, daring and rugged. He is out of his mind. We lock him at night!"
