I went out to see if the pokeberries. had ripened yet but only found green berries and these tender blooms and very small berries.
These images are of two different clusters on the same stem.
So I invited them into the "studio" for a session

While it is known as “poke sallet” or “poke salad”, poke leaves have to be cooked in a particular way before eating - never eat them raw in a salad.
From the web:
“Pokeweed poisoning is no joke. According to Penn State Hershey, poison ingredients Phytolaccatoxin and Phytolaccigenincan be found in the root system, leaves, and stems of the weed. A small amount can found in the dark purple berries. Within 6 hours of ingestion, symptoms may include diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, low blood pressure, slow or difficulty breathing, weakness, and a rapid pulse.“
