A couple of months ago I ask about what you all thought was the best lens for night sky. I was looking to rent for a work shop that I was attending. I ended up getting a Sigma 14 to 24 f2.8 Art lens. I coupled that with my Canon 6d. The workshop was this past weekend at the Grand Canyon and I thought that I would share some of my results. All of these are using this lens except the trails which I did at 200 mm also using Sigma lens. Let me know what you think

Wow! First night out - incredible. Were you using a star tracker? Were the Milky Way shots single or multiple exposures?
Those are beautiful star shots. Keep up the great work.

These are very nice, especially for a first effort. I like #3 best myself. Concentrate on the sky first. Once you get that as you like it, adding light painting will be quite straightforward. Don't be afraid to experiment with white balance. And also experiment and decide how aggressive you want to be with your post processing.

Good work. Have fun as you keep learning.

Looks good to me. That's the focal length you want for shooting the Milky Way.

Very nice shots! Looks like you got a good lens! For Milkyway photography I ended up with a 14mm Rokinon f2.8. Manual focus, but that's what you need for MW shots.

Lens is a great choice. Sigma Art lenses are heavy but beautiful.

I would recommend changing the color tint to the 3400k range, to match the deep blue of the night sky.
