I just love this. Everything about it, especially the presence of the dog.
Thank you all for the wonderful comments. I didn't have the California fires consiously on my mind when I created this but I am sure it was there in the background. I had read the story about the boy and his dog earlier this week. I often don't set out to create a specific image. I usually start with a technique I want to work with and build from the results. I try to use only photos that I have taken for the composites. Not that there is anything wrong with using some of the fabulous art available on the web but if I want to use these in my club competitions then any images I use have to originate from my camera.
I added the human figure first. I knew I wanted it to be female but I didn't have one in any type of gothic clothing and I knew that she would have to be backlit because of the direction of the light. I used a photo of a woman who came to pick up a free tree from the City of Dallas to plant. I liked that her arm was lifted away from her body implying movement. Once I had her placed I knew she needed something to guide her so the idea of the dog popped up. I used my dad's dog Luke. He loves to lead us through the woods when we are out walking and I caught him stopping to look back at us in the golden hour the last time I was there.
The creative process is different for each of us but in the end I think we all use our hearts and souls to guide us, consciously or not.
Almost like a scene from a movie. Rod Sterling would be proud of you.
Very well rendered, Ms. Evans
Quite interesting--good story!!
Very creative. I like it very much. . . .
Looks as though it may have been inspired by Orton's work. Beautifully executed, emotional treatment. Stay well and keep up the good work.
