Yesterday's highlights...
I visited Harvard Park in Irvine, CA yesterday in search of a Baird's Sandpiper. I failed to find the Baird's, but I did manage to get some decent photos anyway. It was an overcast day with smoke added to the atmosphere, so contrast wasn't extreme. All were taken handheld with my Nikon D500 using a Nikkor 200-500mm telezoom. Most were shot on Manual with AutoISO on, f/5.6 to f/6.3, 1/1200 to 1/1600. Discouraged that I didn't see the Baird's this time (I did see it a couple of times last week), but it was still a fun outing.

Nice, and some I have not seen or at least not gotten pictures of. When the heat and this Covid thing is over I will have to get motivated and motor over to the west side of the Santa Anas.
A really nice collection.

Thanks, Sylvias. It was the first bird I saw when I arrived at the park yesterday. Thanks very much. Have a satisfying week. jak

Thanks, Robert. I enjoyed your photo and writeup about the (English) House Sparrows. I've always found them attractive and fun to watch. I worked for 40 years in downtown Los Angeles, and one of the birds we were pretty sure of seeing every day was the House Sparrow. I also got used to seeing Band Tailed Pigeons in the middle of the Financial District. I appreciate your kind words and hope you find a way to visit the West part of OC soon. It's really fairly cool these days, and you can usually walk with lots of social distance at parks and preserves. Have a healthy, creative week. jak

Much appreciation, NMGal. Thanks for taking the time to view and comment. I hope you have a creative, healthy week. jak
Nice series. The "group" photo is neat - makes me think that the egret is playing at RSM!
Nice to hear from you, Ourspolair. The group photo was one of several shots of that group that I snapped off. I chose that one because of the egret's pose. Have a great week and take good care of yourself. jak
