Mirrorless for Sports

I am seeking any experiential, in-the-field information you can share.
I am end of life with my Nikon D4. I have read all about the D6 and I am not eager to spend $7000 for what I perceive to be limited improvements.
I am considering a Mirrorless camera instead - big decision, especially with my investment in Nikon lenses.
I am open to any manufacturer but I am seeking improvements over my D4.
D4 has full frame, 11fps and 12 megapixels.
I want more fps, faster autofocus, higher megapixels (24?).
Has anyone used a Mirrorless for shooting sports?
Would appreciate pros & cons as well as feedback on your specific manufacturer.
Do you used full frame camera?
Thanks in advance.

You probably want to consider the Sony A9II until / if Canon or Nikon release a competitor as their top tier product.

I have heard the Sony cameras perform really well in low light. Is the performance significant enough to shoot with f4 lens. I need f2.8 at a minimum with my DSLR.

If you believe Photons to Protons test data (https://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR.htm), the best Sony’s are about 1/2 stop better than your D4, but not better than a D5, which at a new list price of $5,500, 20.8 MP and 12 FPS is still the king of low light sports.

IMHO, the D series cameras are made specifically for sports. If you want something better than a D4, try a D4s or a new/used D5. I have used the D3, D4s, D5 and now the D6 for sports and find all well suited. The baby D5, also known as the D500 is not a bad choice either although the full frame models have wider tonal range and much better low light response. I will find out during friday football under the lights if the D6 is really better than the D5 in several different ways. I am anxiously awaiting! I have played with my Z6 for sports and find it not so useful. Best of luck.

Chris - I appreciate your insight as you have "hands-on"experience.
I would be very interested in your assessment of the D6 and the real value over the D4 or D5.
I have waited for the D6 for couple years and was disappointed to hear what it offered. But I have not spoken to anyone who has actual experience. Please share what you learn. My email is Jack@JackLewisPhoto.com
